Nå kommer Lotus Connections og Lotus Quickr på iPhone

IBM mener alvor når de sier de satser på Apple-plattformen. På Macworld i San Francisco vil de annonsere at de kommer til levere hele sin portefølje av sosiale medier, Lotus Connections og Lotus Quickr både på iPhone og Mac.

Tidligere er det bare Blackberry som har kunnet levere disse løsningene på håndholdte enheter. Fra tidligere av leverer de både epost og kalender på iPhone, Blackberry og de fleste mobile enheter som er på markedet. Dette bygger på løsninger IBM Lotus Traveler som er gratis!

Nokia med Lotus
Det sies også at Nokia om ikke lenge vil starte en kampanje der de leverer en Lotus-klient på sine mobiltelefoner. Om denne kampanjen også kommer til Norge er uvisst på nåværende tidspunkt, men UK er allerede avklart som et av markedene der dette vil komme.

Bedre og billigere enn MS Sharepoint
Lotus Quickr er IBM´s paralell til MS Sharepoint, bare mye billigere, med mange flere funksjoner, flere integrasjonsmuligheter (også mot MS Office!!) og til bruk for valgfritt operativsystem. På desktopen er Lotus Quickr fullt integrert med f.eks. alle produktene i MS Office om kunden ønsker det. Integrasjonen er så enkel at den enkelte sluttbruker selv kan gjøre det.

Lotus Connections er markedets første og foreløpig eneste sosiale programvare for det profesjonelle markedet. Men til forskjell fra forbrukermarkedets Facebook, gir Lotus Connections en lang rekke andre muligheter man har bruk for i yrkesutøvelsen.

Nå kan man altså benytte denne typen programvare også på håndholdte enheter. Etterhvert kommer også Android!

Blackberry intensiverer satsningen på Lotus

Mobilteknologiselskapet RIM (Research In Motion) annonserer i dag at de satser enda kraftigere på IBM Lotus teknologi.

Selskapet som er mest kjent for sine Blackberry-telefoner lanserer nå nye løsninger som sikrer brukerne av Blackberry sikker og kryptert tilgang til IBM Lotus Quickr og IBM Lotus Connections.

De nye løsningene tilbyr en rekke nye funksjoner:

Blackberry-klient for Connections og Quickr

Nå er den her! Klienten som gjør det mulig for deg å bruke både Lotus Connections og Lotus Quickr på din Blackberry!

Klienten skal allerede være klar for nedlasting. Planlagt dato var i går, 12. januar, i følge en pressemelding fra IBM.

Her er funksjonsbeskrivelsen for løsningene (på engelsk):

The BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections and BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Quickr allows people to collaborate in real time with their colleagues, maintain their productivity while away from their desk, and speed up decision making while “on the go”. Users are able to share work items, work on initiatives together, find expertise, contribute to their communities and leverage their collective knowledge base to drive better outcomes wherever they are.
BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections 2.3:

• Allows mobile knowledge workers in enterprises to access the productivity and collaboration features (Profiles, Communities, Blogs, Bookmarks, and Activities) of Lotus Connections from their BlackBerry smartphones
• Extends Web 2.0-style features with “traditional” BlackBerry strengths such as integration, security, and manageability
• Integrates tightly with native BlackBerry core applications – e-mail, contacts, tasks, browser, media player, and camera

• Helps users share content, collaborate, and work faster online with their teams – inside or outside of the corporate firewall, wirelessly while away from their desks
• Allows BlackBerry smartphone users to download, edit and post documents, add folders and organize their documents
• Supports several Quickr capabilities: navigating and viewing library content, designating libraries as “Favorites” for fast access, sorting and filtering folder content, reviewing file and folder details for modification history, previewing or downloading and checking out documents and checking in documents to replace older versions
• Allows users to e-mail document authors with questions or send a link to a document or folder using their smartphone
• Integrates tightly with native BlackBerry core applications: e-mail, browser, contacts, tasks, media player, menu, camera, and Docs To Go
• Is supported in the back end by mechanisms that ensure data pushed to the user is optimized for mobile viewing
